G4’S X-PLAY REVEALS “THE SCARIEST GAMES OF ALL TIME”
IN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL PAYING HOMAGE TO SAW TRILOGY

Mysterious Serial Killer “Memory Card” is on the Warpath,
Demanding That the X-PLAY Co-Hosts List Their Top 10 Scariest Video Games.
The Spine-Chilling, Hard Drive-Rattling Thriller Premieres Wednesday, October 25

Los Angeles – October 9, 2006 – Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb wake up in an unfamiliar room to flickering fluorescent lights—and discover that they’re chained to the wall with old-school Nintendo powergloves. On a black-and-white TV set left in the room, serial killer "Memory Card" threatens them with certain doom unless they can list the ten scariest video games of all time. Can Adam and Morgan come up with a list, escape, and reveal the killer's true identity before it's too late? X-PLAY: THE SCARIEST GAMES OF ALL TIME will premiere Wednesday, October 25 at 3:00 PM ET/PT. (The special episode will repeat on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31 at 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM ET/PT and on Wednesday, November 1 at 4:00 AM ET/PT.)

2006.10.11 Julie Stoffer in for Morgan Webb on X-Play

• Written by Site Contributor - Highway

Adam and JulieFor those that haven't seen the new episodes of X-Play this week, Morgan Webb is out again and standing in for her as guest co-host is Julie Stoffer from the G4 gaming show, Electric Playground. Now, this article is not to speculate why Morgan is not available again with talks such as:

  • G4 is beginning to phase out Morgan
  • Morgan will be doing more publications like FHM
  • Contract disputes with G4 forces Morgan to seek other opportunities
  • Social obligations has Morgan elsewhere

We're not here to discuss that right now.

G4: Julie StofferInstead, we're here to acknowledge the chemistry between the two co-hosts. Julie, having had more air-time in front of the camera and her own show to co-host, has a better rapport with Adam -- her responses and interactions with him appeared to be more natural (plus she knows how to laugh).

Now, we're not saying that the replacement of Morgan, is something we're looking forward to (nor are we saying that Morgan is going to be replaced), but should when that moment comes and she is no-longer on the show (and again, we're not speculating anything at this time), we feel that Julie is the person to go to for the next co-host of X-Play.

Those that have watched the episodes, please chime in with your opinions regarding Julie's interaction on the show.

FHM November 2006 EditionTHE GAMING GODDESS

TV HOST AND FHM VIDEO-GAME COLUMNIST MORGAN WEBB LISTS ALL-TIME BEST CONTRIBUTIONS TO PIXELATED SLACKERY

Instead of advice for gamers in peril, this month FHM asked me for my 20 greatest games of all time. Now, I know a lot of you will read this and say, "Where's Pac-Man or Frogger or Space Invaders?" Well, these old classics are just that... classics -- simple games from a simpler time. They're fun for a few minutes, but they don't stand up to the pants-dropping excellence of a GTA. Is your fave missing? Some of mine are too! Maybe next year, FHM will let me do my top 50. Until then, here's my list in chronological order.
FHM November 2006 Edition

  • #01 Super Mario Bros (1985) NES - Mario's acid trip through the Mushroom Kingdom is the epitome of old-school excellence. It wasn't the first 2-D side-scroller ever made, but it established a standard by which all other games would be judged for all time.
  • #02 Tetris (1985) Various Systems - Since its passage out of Russia in the '80s, the most addictive game ever made has appeared on nearly every gaming platform ever. On cell phones, it's helped lower the suicide rate among boyfriends dragged to sales at the mall.
